Beyond the Postcard is an editorial book project exploring how culture shapes place and design. Inspired by my study abroad experience and informed by my background in design and anthropology, the book highlights 30 cities across six continents. Each city is reimagined through adaptations of The New York Times 36 Hours series, shifting focus away from tourist landmarks toward cultural context, everyday life, and lesser-known destinations.

Initial layout exploration for front of book development and inner content spreads (Oceania, Adelaide Australia.) Emphasis of outer columns is a reoccurring theme throughout the publication.
Midway spread explorations focused on refining hierarchy and pacing through a single-column text structure, generous use of white space, experimental glyph typography, and bold cropping of key imagery. These iterations tested balance, readability, and visual impact while pushing the overall layout system forward.
Final mockups of the book cover and key interior spreads demonstrate the consistent application of the design system. A monochromatic color palette is assigned to each city based on its continent, creating a clear visual structure and geographic distinction.
Typography remains consistent throughout, reinforcing cohesion and strengthening the overall identity of the publication.
